I stumbled across a LinkedIn version of this speech critique series and thought it was worth sharing. Darren LaCroix and Mark Brown, both former World Champions and speech coach Mike Davis talk about what made the top 3 speeches work — and how even these winner’s circle competitors could have made their speeches better.
Perhaps of particular interest to us, they address how the hybrid format changed the nature of the contest and how 2nd place winner Alexandre Matte took best advantage of the medium to tell the story he wanted to tell.
If you haven’t seen the contest speeches (or if you just want a refresher), I’ve interspersed them below. The first critique video covers the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, while the third covers the new World Champion Cyril Junior Dim.
