Educational Minute (organized by VPE)

Sgt. at Arms calls the meeting to order. Introduces the President or Presiding Officer.

President or Presiding Officer gives a brief orientation and overview of the club mission. Introduces the Toastmaster of the Day

Timer:

The Timer tracks the time for each portion of the meeting and signals the speakers and functionaries so they know when their time is up. For green/yellow/red visual cues, please use an object as big as your head or a similarly prominent webcam effect. For an audible cue, tapping a pencil or a knife against a glass produces a chime that is not too distracting.

General Evaluator:

General Evaluator gives an overall evaluation of the meeting, 2-3 minutes. General Evaluator should aim to add new insights, not re-evaluate speakers or repeat information covered by others.

President or presiding officer wraps up the meeting and asks for volunteers to fill open roles at the next meeting. Be sure to finish by 9 pm U.S. Eastern Time.

Word of the Day: Eristic: Of or characterized by debate or argument. “if you love to argue, you’re eristic.”

Being eristic is a fairly common characteristic for a debater to have.
