Members and guests are encouraged to sign in anytime after 7:15 pm U.S. Eastern Time for an informal meet and greet and to allow time for any technical troubleshooting. We also do self introductions during this time. The meeting will officially starts at 7:45 pm.

Carl Walsh is a Professional member of the National Speakers Association and is one of very few Americans to have graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
He spent 20 years on stage as an Actor/Director/Writer, then found business to be a greater challenge with greater rewards. He spent 28 years in corporate America, with such companies as Wherehouse Music, C&R Clothiers, The Walt Disney Company and Smart & Final Stores. He has since helped people from all walks, express their ideas effectively.
He was one of ten finalists for the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking in 2009 and was featured in Toastmasters Magazine for his use of theatre games to express his points.
He now acts as a consultant and speaker on business management to professionals and MBA schools, especially on the topic of drawing out the problem-solving creativity locked up within the workforce, and is co-host of “The Oval Table”, the podcast for small business.
Today, Carl will be delivering an Icebreaker from the Motivational Strategies path. He hopes to tell you a little about himself by giving you a look at what he considers to be one of the most important elements of leadership.
This speech summarizes my lessons learned from an ongoing online ‘Circle’ group work project involving co-leading monthly meetings focused on Quarter Instructional topics that facilitate discussion, create new ideas to implement, incorporate practices and used to evaluate results of student performance.

Topics Master asks for the Timer’s Report & vote for the Best Topics Speaker of the Day
The Vice President of Membership leads this part of the meeting, which includes time for introducing new members and for speeches by prospective members. A prospective member who does not meet our default requirement for Toastmasters experience (more than 6 Toastmasters speeches) has the option of making a 3-5 minute speech about why that requirement should be waived.
General Evaluator asks for the Timer’s Report & vote for the Best Evaluator of the Day
General Evaluator continues with the functionary reports (the Grammarian, the Watcher, the Ah Counter, and the Chat Monitor (1 minute each)).
General Evaluator rounds out this portion of the meeting by giving an overall evaluation, 2-3 minutes. General Evaluator should aim ONLY to add any new insights, not re-evaluate speakers or repeat information covered by others.
General Evaluator asks Vote Counter to reveal the winners of the meeting
President/Presiding Officer closing remarks. Be sure to wrap up meeting by 9 pm

Timer’s Notes
Timing will begin with the contestant’s first definite verbal or nonverbal communication with the audience. This usually will be the first word uttered by the contestant, but would include any other communication such as sound effects, a staged act by another person, etc.
